The trails are open!

225 club ticket sales are going slow. Half the tickets still remain to be sold. Its very important we sell every ticket this year, because the money raised is going into our Excavator fund for future payment. If you haven't received a packet yet to sell, or would like to purchase a ticket, please contact Brad Hilton at 315-298-3261

April 2005

Next Meeting

Our next meeting will be at the Altmar Hotel at 11 am on April 16th. This is our annual meeting with election of officers so please try to be there. Remember - this is renewal month also. We are giving out two cards for family memberships this year, so be sure to let us know your wife's name also. We are not asking for copies of your insurance this year, however, it is a State Law you must wear a helmet, carry insurance on your machine and be able to prove it if stopped. This will be your sole responsibility.

President's Note

URGENT! There is going to be a public hearing with the DEC on May 5th at 5 pm at the Fairgrounds in Syracuse. We really need to RALLY for this meeting. If you want progress with the NYS DEC, be at this Rally - "NUMBERS COUNT". We are leaving the Easy Truck Stop on Rt. 104 at 2:30 pm to go to the meeting. Or if you want to go directly to the Fairgrounds be there by 3:30 pm. WE NEED ALL THE PEOPLE THERE WE CAN GET!!!

There is a Legislator's meeting on April 14th at 7 pm at the Oswego County Court House, 46 East Bridge St. in Oswego. We need all the Oswego County residents only that we can get to go to this meeting. It is important that we have a good show for this meeting. Again, we will be leaving the Easy Truck Stop at 5:45 pm to proceed to the meeting in Oswego. Or you can meet us in Oswego at 6:15 pm in the Mall parking lot across from the courthouse.

News

Again, we have to postpone the opening of our trails this year due to deep snow conditions. There will be an update in this respect at our regular meeting on April 16th. You will have to contact an officer, board member, or our new trail work coordinator Edwin (Jr.) O'Neil at 668-8995. Jr. did not want to be referred to as Trail Boss, so we are calling him our Trail Work Coordinator. He also has two assistant trail work coordinators, Dave Gaffey whom you can contact at 298-5444 and Steve Crim at 625-7370. Anyone willing to help on work details, please contact Jr. or one of his assistants. You can also sign up for duty on the new bulletin board which is now in place in the Pavilion at Little Lukey's in Altmar. This is where all the work details begin. PLEASE take your turn and put some time in to help build these trails. Don't just leave the work for someone else to do.

Events

Our first annual ride is scheduled for May 7th , if conditions permit. We plan to meet at Little Lukey's at 4:30 pm. Of course, as you know, our first big event this year is going to be our Tradeshow, Crafts & Flea Market on June 11 and 12 at the Town House Restaurant in Williamstown. We would like this to be an annual event, but we need lots of help before and during. Contact Steve at 298-3312, or Mary at 298-5444 to find out what you can do to help. Also sign-up sheets are available at the meetings.

The Portly Angler Lodge is offering free lodging for one night during the months of April and August for anyone who wishes to come up and help on the work details. You need only to get a slip signed by the Trail Coordinator or one of his assistants. Contact Sean, Bruce or Lee at 298-4773 to make arrangements to stay.

The Trestle Pool Lodge & Cafe is offering a 4-wheeler special: 2 nights, 2 breakfasts, 1 dinner for $79.00 per person, double occupancy. Contact Bob at 298-3954 to make arrangements. Also, Bob is offering a 10% discount at his cafe to any club member with an up-to-date membership card.

West Extension Information

All members who live in the Hannibal and surrounding area who wish to join in the West Extension part of our Club, please note this on your check or application and we will issue you a West Extension Membership Card. It is our understanding they have elected some officers and are having meetings on that end of the county. If you wish to participate you can contact Jim Marra at 564-6619.

Points of Interest

Don't forget our neighbors, NYTRO Club is having Chicken BBQ on April 24th at noon at Ontario Tire on US Rt. in Sandy Creek.
There is a scheduled benefit ride on May 21st to help with legal fees for the North Country Clubs that are fighting the DEC in Court to get State trails opened. Cost of ride is $10.00 per person which includes a free buffet dinner at Timberview Lodge. The Oswego County ATV Club will meet in the parking lot at Barnes Corners at 10 am to register. Lets show them we support other clubs. Due to the conflict of dates with the above ride, our monthly meeting for May will be held on the 14th.
