As you know our newsletter is very costly, so I have introduced a ticket plan to
help with next year’s cost. We will sell 1000 tickets at $5. each. First prize will
be $500. with four other prizes of $100. each. We will put these tickets in the
May newsletter. So if you don’t want a ticket, let us know. If we don’t hear from
you, you will be responsible for the ticket sent to you. Buy it or sell it. The
drawing will be held at the Landowners Dinner in September, 2010.
Steve
A personal thank you goes to Frank & Jean Shepherd for their help in parking cars
at the Oswego County Fair.
Thanks go out to all who helped with the repair of the Pulaski Trail with a special
thank you to Steve who tirelessly worked on the “wet hole” of the Pulaski Trail
and brought it back for us to ride. Thanks Steve.
The winner of the 50/50 raffle at the September meeting, Ray Ishan, has donated
$50. back to the Club from his winnings. Thanks Ray.
For seven years the Club has provided all members and sponsors a copy of the monthly
newsletter. Due to the state of the economy and in an effort to streamline the mailing
of the newsletter some changes will occur in the coming year.
At this time of the year it is felt that we have an opportunity to make changes
to the newsletters mailing and still provide the news that all of you deserve as
members and sponsors.
The newsletter costs have escalated over the years due to many things; the increased
post office costs, cost of paper and ink, and of course the amount of newsletters
sent out. This mailing alone goes to almost 900 addresses. Our Club has continued
to grow since it’s inception in 2002 and we foresee a continued growth in the future.
All these factors have contributed to the annual cost to the Club of approximately
$4000. In an effort to save money some ideas have been proposed.
The reminder post card announcing the first meeting will be eliminated. You all
know when the first meeting is and we look forward to starting the season off seeing
all of you.
There will continue to be a newsletter mailed each month to those of you who need
to have a copy. The newsletter, including the sponsor list, will appear on the webpage
each month as it has for over seven years.
You will see on the revised membership form a new question regarding mailing of
the newsletter. “Do you need a newsletter mailed” is the question. Some of you would
rather not have a newsletter at all, some of you prefer to access the newsletter
by computer and, of course, some prefer a formal mailing. We need to know this information
in an effort to streamline our mailings. Please make sure you answer this question.
If there has been no choice made, we won’t mail a newsletter to you.
If we all work together next year I know we can get all the information you want
out to you in a timely fashion and still reduce our mailings costs. We really need your help on this one. Please answer all questions
on the membership renewal/ new member form.
Enclosed you will find our 2010 revised membership form. This year, as we told you
all last year, we will require a license plate number for each of your machines.
Other questions have been added as discussed in the previous columns.
The Club has decided to accept 2 wheel vehicle owners as members in 2010 instead
of what was previously reported. This will be a six month trial period. Please follow
all rules including the noise requirements by the State.
A new address for membership has been established. The address for memberships only
is P.O. Box 55, Altmar, NY 13302. Please show the word “membership” on the envelope.
Please mail back your membership forms in January and avoid standing in line at
our meetings. Make sure all questions are answered.
Just a reminder. Any paid member or sponsor is permitted to advertise in the monthly
newsletter. The cost is $10 for a business card space. It’s a great way to sell
something you would like to with great exposure to our members. For example, the
flyer in this month’s newsletter was paid for by a sponsor. The cost was $.05 per
page. The cost is based on how many copies of the newsletter are mailed in the month
you chose to do a flyer. This month I am mailing over 850 newsletters. As a sponsor
you can see the potential in using this method of advertising. It’s relatively inexpensive
and gets to the people who are interested.
The entire month of October the Mallory Lumber & Steel Company, County Rte. 32,
Mallory, NY (668-6633) is offering a 10% discount to all Club members on purchases
over $1. You will need to provide your membership card when you pay your bill.
This might be a great opportunity to finish that summer project before the snow
flies. Take advantage of this discount.
